David W. Deetz, CEO and President
David Deetz has successfully founded two companies in the medical diagnostics space:
- PPG Biomedical; introduced the first point-of-care blood gas system with a multiuse cartridge. This product was based on licensed technology, was ultimately acquired by Radiometer and continues to be marketed around the world
- Diametrics Medical; developed and introduced the first point-of-care blood gas system with a disposable single-use cartridge. The company was acquired by ITC, which continues to market this product globally
Mr. Deetz also formed MulitLogic Inc,an expert systems company, by initially acquiring a proven technology platform. The Company developed software tools and solutions to rapidly optimize situations involving a large number of interactive variables and marketed them through strategic partners (HP, Citigroup, JP Morgan)
Barbara Roth, VP of Manufacturing and Process Development
Ms. Roth has experience in all aspects of medical diagnostics product development and commercialization. She has experience working in both Fortune 100 environments as well as early stage, emerging growth companies. In addition, she has experience in high volume, high complexity manufacturing as well as low volume, high mix manufacturing.
- Diametrics Medical; developed a robust, high-volume cartridge manufacturing system as VP of Manufacturing
- Johnson and Johnson; gained experience in quality and regulatory affairs as Manager of Quality and Regulatory Affairs
- Everett Charles Technologies; led the evolution of an early stage manufacturing operation into a professional industry standard compliant organization
- Medtronic; developed business continuity plan identifying top operational risks with a product prioritization strategy for focused development of risk mitigation strategies for their battery operations
Dennis McFadden, VP of Corporate Development
Mr. McFadden has more than 25 years of senior executive level experience with multi-national and emerging growth companies. He has held the CFO role in several emerging growth companies as well as an executive role in three multinational organizations. He has extensive international and fund raising experience and has been actively involved in or led a number of acquisitions, divestitures, strategic partnerships and joint ventures. During the course of his career, he has raised in excess of $1 billion in public and private debt or equity.
- TELentice Global; co-founder and CFO actively involved in the acquisition of intellectual property from Fujitsu
- Wizmo, Inc.; held several senior executive roles including CFO, President of Professional Services and CEO, raised $40 million in venture and strategic funding
- St. Jude Medical; worked closely with the business development and operating team to acquire two medical device technology companies and restructure financial operations in a European business unit as Treasurer
- Endocardial Solutions; led IPO effort and worked with strategic partner to evaluate a potential acquisition transaction
- Diametrics Medical;led secondary equity offering on NASDAQ as CFO
- Cray Research; responsible for more than $500 million in financing, several acquisitions, a major divestiture, restructuring of customer finance operations and formation of their entry level systems division
David Friedman, Vice President of Marketing
Mr. Friedman has more than 20 years of commercial experience in the medical diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries. He has led global marketing, business development and sales teams in some of healthcare’s most prominent organizations such as Abbott Laboratories, Johnson & Johnson, Beckman Coulter and Roche. During the course of his career, he launched numerous innovative and disruptive technologies and novel therapeutics that revolutionized their markets. Mr. Friedman earned a BS in Engineering from West Point and his MBA from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.
- Beckman Coulter; Developed and implemented global marketing strategies and business plans for a $700M medical diagnostics product portfolio sold in over 120 countries. Built and grew strategic partnerships with global affiliates, over 200 distributors and OEM clients
- Johnson & Johnson; led a sales organization that launched a revolutionary microsphere encapsulated antibiotic for the treatment of periodontal disease. Developed a new market for this therapy and rapidly grew the product to over $300 million in annual sales
- US Army; commanded multiple organizations throughout the world. Lieutenant Colonel Friedman retired in 2006 after serving more than 20 years on both active duty and in the reserves

James B. Stake, Independent Director
Mr. Stake has spent more than 30 years at 3M. While at 3M he led a number of 3M’s healthcare, commercial and industrial businesses ranging in size from $100 million to $4 billion in the US and abroad.
He is a successful business leader with extensive management experience in running high growth and mature businesses as well as those in need of turnaround. Mr. Stake has extensive experience in virtually every function of a global corporation including R&D, marketing, sales, supply chain, finance, IT and corporate administration. He also has substantial knowledge of legal, corporate governance, and risk management issues and is committed to ethical business practices
Tiffany P. Olson, Independent Director
Ms. Olson has spent more than 25 years in the medical diagnostics and healthcare industry. She was most recently the President and CEO of Roche Diagnostics Corporation a multi-billion unit of Roche focused on medical diagnostics products. Prior to running this business she held a number of senior executive positions in the US and overseas, including Global Head of Market Development with responsibility for Divisional Quality and Regulatory Management, Clinical Development, Government Affairs, and Market Development. These positions provided a broad perspective on the clinical and regulatory aspects of the business, in addition to insight on how to advance the market through innovative diagnostics.
Among her accomplishments, she was instrumental in starting a non-profit association in the hearing-health industry, which provided market research spanning over 4,000 consumers. The published research helped to provide a greater understanding of issues and challenges surrounding the hearing impaired.
Dale Wahlstrom – Independent Director
Mr. Wahlstrom is a highly respected medical device executive and business leader. He has demonstrated leadership in both private and public sector organizations, foreign and domestic. Mr. Wahlstrom has a track record of leading organizations by developing a shared vision and rallying his team around that vision.
After a highly successful career at Medtronic, he was tapped by the Governor of the State of Minnesota to lead the BioBusiness Alliance, an organization dedicated to the advancement of bioscience related industries in Minnesota. Under his leadership, the BioBusiness Alliance issued a major assessment of and roadmap for biotechnology development entitled “Destination 2025,” and is credited with creating 1,587 jobs across 127 start-up companies in 18 months.
He has a long and successful record in implantable devices, disposable products, consumer products and component manufacturing extensive experience. And he has broad experience in many business functions including manufacturing operations, technology and new product development, sales, OEM supply, research and supply chain management.
